Defence Minister Sanjay Seth Pledges Eye Donation at Ranchi Awareness Camp

A Noble Initiative in Ranchi

In a significant step toward turning eye donation into a mass movement, India’s Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, pledged to donate his eyes, inspiring society to join this noble cause. Attending an eye and organ donation awareness camp organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Kayasth Mahasabha’s Social Welfare (Women) and Arts Cell, the minister filled out the eye donation form himself and urged citizens to actively participate in this life-changing initiative.

The Gift of Sight

Speaking as the chief guest, Mr. Seth emphasized that eye donation is a gift that can permanently remove darkness from someone’s life. He described it as a social responsibility and called on more people to come forward.

Sm. Smita, the Cell’s president, expressed gratitude for the minister’s gesture, calling it inspirational and noting that it would send a positive message across society, encouraging greater participation in eye and organ donation.

  • Sri P.K. Lala (Senior Tax Advocate): Highlighted the importance of eye donation and appealed for active involvement.

  • Dr. P. Sinha (Secretary, Bihar Eye Bank Trust): Emphasized the urgent need to extend eye health awareness beyond towns, reminding people that timely treatment can often prevent loss of sight.

Educational Session & Honors

The Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Eye Bank and the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO), Jharkhand, presented detailed information on the process and significance of donation through a Power Point session.

Participants who registered for eye and organ donation were honoured during the programme to recognize their contribution to humanity.
