Free Cataract Operation Eye Camp
Bihar Eye Bank Trust, in collaboration with Jharkhand Pratibha Kala Samsthan, organized a free cataract operation eye camp in Anandi, Ormanjhi on 18 August 2025. The initiative aimed to address multiple health concerns, with a special focus on eye care.
A total of 35 individuals were screened by the medical team from Jharkhand Eye Bank Hospital and Research Centre, which operates under Bihar Eye Bank Trust. Despite low turnout due to heavy rainfall, 35 patients were screened and three patients were identified for cataract surgery.
The camp was organised by members of Jharkhand Pratibha Kala Samsthan. Some members were present. From the Jharkhand Eye Bank Hospital and Research Centre, the following team members participated: Sri Kalyan Ghorai, Sri Mukesh Kumar Singh, Sri Priye Pritam Topno and Sri Ravi Shankar Kumar.
Selected patients will be provided free transportation to the hospital, along with free accommodation and meals for two days. The cataract surgeries will be performed at no cost, including medicines and protective dark glasses. Follow-up consultations are scheduled one week and one month post-surgery to ensure proper recovery.
To extend outreach, pamphlets were distributed in the nearby weekly market after the camp. Staff engaged with shopkeepers and local residents to raise awareness about the importance of timely eye care and regular check-ups.
This camp reflects the Trust’s ongoing commitment to accessible and quality eye care for underserved communities.
