Celebration at Jharkhand Eye Bank, Hospital and Research Centre
On 15 August 2024, Jharkhand Eye Bank Hospital and Research Centre, managed by Bihar Eye Bank Trust, celebrated India’s Independence Day with great enthusiasm and reverence. The event, held at the facility on Bariatu Road, Ranchi, was graced by a special guest, Sri S. S. Lal, General Manager (CSR) of Central Coalfields Ltd. (CCL), who hoisted the National Flag.

The day began with a warm welcome by Dr. P. Sinha, Secretary of Bihar Eye Bank Trust, who introduced Sri Lal.

A highlight of the celebration was a spirited performance by a group of students from Hi-Q International Academy.

The young performers sang patriotic songs and the National Anthem, setting a tone of national pride and unity. Following the musical presentations, sweets and presents were distributed to the children present, adding a festive touch to the occasion.

Sri S. S. Lal took the opportunity to address the students, urging them to honor the legacy of the freedom fighters by contributing their best efforts to the nation’s growth. His message highlighted the importance of individual contributions towards a prosperous India.

The event was also attended by Sri Uphar Kaushal, Deputy Manager of CCL, and four Trustees of Bihar Eye Bank Trust: Treasurer Sri S. S. Dubey, Dr. P. Sinha, Sri Siddhartha Ghosh, and Sri Ajay Kumar Jain. Also present were D. Vinita Sinha and Dr. Ashish Joy Soren.
After the flag hoisting ceremony, the attendees enjoyed tea and snacks together. Sri Lal commended the efforts of Jharkhand Eye Bank, Hospital, and Research Centre, praising their commitment to excellence. He offered valuable advice on planning for the future and encouraged the team to seek support from corporations to enhance the hospital’s capabilities.
The Independence Day celebration was a memorable occasion that underscored the spirit of patriotism and community service, reflecting the core values of both the Bihar Eye Bank Trust and its partners.

Jharkhand Eye Bank Hospital and Research Centre is run by Bihar Eye Bank Trust, a registered charitable trust (No. 17174 of 1974 under the Indian Trust Act), founded by Late N. Bakshi I.C.S. The Trust is headed by H.E. the Governor of Jharkhand and includes other state dignitaries.
The Bihar Eye Bank Trust is a permanent member of Eye Bank Association of India and is registered under the District Blindness Control Society, Ranchi.
The Hospital is housed in a three-storied building standing on 0.7 acres of land in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. It is easily reached road, rail and air.
