Ruksana Khatoon cornea grafting in both eyes
Normally when a cornea grafting fails, there is little hope of restoring sight even with another transplant. Ruksana Khatoon, aged 45, came from another hospital with failed cornea grafting in both eyes. She was blind and poor. Her neighbours brought her to our hospital and appealed to us to restore her sight. Although we warned her that chances of rejection were great, she begged us to try another transplant. A graft on her right eye partially restored her sight. After two months when she came for a check up, she was looking beautiful. She could see people about ten feet away. She shed tears as she said she was very happy and she could now see her children.
